Internet Disruption

Quick hits regarding the disruptions in internet connectivity caused by cuts to submarine fiber optic cables in the Mediterranian.

First stop is Art Hutchenson’s still-relevent examination of a previous disruption.

Next up is John Robb. A key point that requires much further thought:

closed systems like China’s that route traffic through firewall choke-points, or other closely held infrastructure, are likely very vulnerable to an attack of this type.

Then look at this Renesys analysis (H/T to Shloky). For further thought: look at the lost/restored graphs for each ISP in each country as a report card on resilience.
